CAREERS IN THE AIR FORCE
Your college scholarship is just the beginning of your opportunities to acquire knowledge in the Air Force. From your initial training to graduate education and the unique opportunities found in the Professional Military Education program, there are many options to learn in the Air Force.
The knowledge necessary to perform your Air Force specialty.
THE BASE EDUCATION OFFICE
The base education office is your first stop on the road to continuing education. It also has lists of classes from universities offering college courses on base.
You can pursue a master’s degree in almost any subject with tuition assistance, which pays for 100 percent of the cost (up to $250 per semester hour).
If the Air Force needs you to pursue a master’s degree in a specific subject, you can apply to attend a program through the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), which pays 100 percent of your tuition.
PROFESSIONAL MILITARY EDUCATION (PME)
All officers are encouraged to continue their military education, which concentrates on leadership and management skills. PME offers several courses that prepare officers for command and staff positions later in their careers.
Since not all officers wish to continue to perform the same job or specialty for their entire careers, it’s an option to retrain into another career area down the road.
Many other scholarships are available for both military members and their families.Contact us for more details.
After graduation, in exchange for getting their college education paid for, a contracted cadet accepts a commission as a second lieutenant in the Air Force. Most cadets make a four-year, active duty service commitment.
