
Space Orientation (SO)
The objective of Space Orientation (SO) is to orient cadets to the fundamentals of space power applications, capabilities and employment. Located at the US Air Force Academy, cadets will explore current AF space mission areas to include hands-on experience with selected operational space capabilities as well as classroom instruction.
SO is made up of two distinct programs:
- SO-100 – completion of this 10-day program authorized the wear of the Cadet Basic Space Badge. This program is available to AS100sAerospace Studies. Freshman-level course focusing on the structure and missions of Air Force organizations, officership and professionalism. (rising sophomores) in any academic major.
- SO-300 – completion of this 19-day program authorizes the wear of the Cadet Senior Space Badge. This program is available to AS300sAerospace Studies. Junior-level course studying the anatomy of leadership, the need for quality and management leadership, the role of discipline in leadership situations and the variables affecting leadership. (rising seniors) in any academic major. Cadets that attended SO-100 are highly recommended to return for SO-300 to hold a leadership position in this program.
