
Air Force Academy Freefall (AFAFF)
Air Force Academy Freefall (AFAFF) is a rigorous 12-day parachute training program conducted at the US Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, CO. The course is comprised of strenuous physical training, conditioning, ground school and five freefall jumps from 4,500 feet. It is the largest freefall parachute course in the Department of Defense. This is the only jump program in the world where students perform solo freefalls on their first jump. Completion of the course results in the awarding of the DoDDepartment of Defense. Basic Parachutist rating, which gives the authority to wear the Parachutist Badge. This program is available to AS100sAerospace Studies. Freshman-level course focusing on the structure and missions of Air Force organizations, officership and professionalism. (rising sophomores) and AS300sAerospace Studies. Junior-level course studying the anatomy of leadership, the need for quality and management leadership, the role of discipline in leadership situations and the variables affecting leadership. (rising seniors).
Some physical requirements and limitations include:
- Must be age 18 or older
- Must be able to pass your physical fitness testPFT - an exam composed of three events in the following order: push-ups, crunches, and a 1.5-mile run. The test is used to ensure cadets maintain an acceptable level of fitness.
- Must be able to hold a chin up for 10 seconds
- A maximum weight of 215lbs
- Other medical screening must be accomplished prior to attending
