Duties and Responsibilities
In support of joint and combined forces engaged in conventional or special operations, the Control and Recovery position manages, inspects and evaluates the day-to-day operations of PR activities and personnel to ensure that special tactics teams (STTs) are organized, trained and equipped to perform reconnaissance terminal control.
The Control and Recovery team plans, conducts and coordinates reconnaissance, surveillance, survey or assessments of potential objective airfields and assault zones - including planning missions and managing PR, SERE, and control of the aerospace interface in objective areas. Additionally, they are responsible for advising on the readiness of forces based on force status reports, inspections, training exercise and evaluation results, coordinating plans, conducting PR missions, emergency trauma care, movement and medical evaluation of personnel.
Ultimately, the Control and Recovery team will assist in establishing safe, orderly, and expeditious air traffic flow in and around the terminal area through commanding and controlling communications, gathering and reporting intelligence information, removing obstacles or unexploded ordnance with demolitions, and providing and enabling operational interface between aerospace assets and surface forces. The Control and Recovery team also provides air traffic control (ATC) services and terminal attack control (TAC) for expeditionary airfields and assault zones.
Although there are no corollary civilian opportunities, the leadership and management experience all Air Force Officers receive is in high demand among America's best companies.
