International Politico-Military Affairs Officer

Plans, formulates, coordinates and implements Air Force aspects of international politico-military policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

The International Politico-Military Affairs officer formulates Air Force positions on combined politico-military affairs ­ developing policy positions on international political problems of national, combined or joint service interest, and making recommendations on treaties, international agreements and politico-military plans, policies and procedures. The International Politico-Military Affairs officer assists in the development, coordination and implementation of National Security Council policies and National Policy Papers and guidelines for Policy and Operations Papers on a worldwide basis.

International Politico-Military Affairs officers are responsible for monitoring Air Force interests in international affairs, and representing the Air Force on international staffs, projects, surveys, advisory groups, missions and defense boards. They also participate in negotiations of treaties and agreements affecting the Air Force, conduct research on world or area politico-military affairs, and advise on the political implications of war plans.



Although the civilian sector does not have a direct correlation for International Politico-Military Affairs officer, jobs such as foreign ambassador, State Department representative, corporate international liaison, etc., all require the foreign area expertise.
