Clinical Geneticist
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Geneticists evaluate, diagnose and treats genetic diseases - preparing and reviewing case histories and clinical records, and interviewing patients or parents to obtain clinical and family histories and constructs pedigrees. They examine patients, determine the need for laboratory or other testing, and interpret pedigrees, examination findings and test results.
In addition to serving as consultant on genetic conditions and diseases, Clinical Geneticists formulate plans and procedures for medical genetics services. They schedule the use of medical genetics clinics, facilities and laboratories and instruct interns and residents in the methods and procedures for diagnosis and management of genetic disorders.

Duties and Responsibilities
Human genetics offers a broad spectrum of occupations associated with genetic diseases. This includes diagnostic, treatment, rehabilitation, screening, counseling and prevention services of patients and families with suspected or proven genetic disorders. Areas of concentration in human genetics might include one of the following: anthropological genetics, behavioral genetics, biochemical genetics, clinical genetics, cytogenetic technology, cytogenetics, developmental genetics, dysmorphology, epidemiology, gene mapping, genetic counseling, immunogenetics, molecular genetics, oncological genetics, pharmacogenetics, population genetics, prenatal diagnosis, comatic cell genetics, and teratology.
