Duties and Responsibilities
The Health Services Administrator plans and organizes activities associated with peacetime and wartime health services administration, such as manpower, medical logistics, medical food service, hospitalization and aeromedical evacuation of patients, equipment maintenance and repair, information systems, clinical engineering, inpatient and outpatient records, and morale and welfare services for patients and medical personnel.
Health Services Administrators monitor, interpret and directs the implementation of policies governing health services programs, and direct the management of health services functions such as medical logistics, fiscal management, managed care, patient administration, aeromedical evacuation and medical research administration. Other responsibilities include developing financial plans and budget estimates for Air Force health services programs, and directing the preparation of biometric reports, directives, correspondence, and memoranda pertaining to health services administration.

The Civilian Health Services Administrator is responsible for the overall management of health services centers. Responsibilities include following policies and coordinating medical and health services in hospitals, out-patient clinics, convalescent hospitals, drug-abuse treatment centers and similar long-term care facilities.
